• Fill out a Change of Details Form and send it to Diabetes Australia, GPO Box 9824 in your capital city, or hand it to an Access Point (NDSS Outlet), or
• Contact your state or territory diabetes organisation to arrange for your details to be changed.

The NDSS has approximately 4000 outlets across Australia in all capital cities and some rural and remote areas. Your local diabetes organisation can put you in contact with NDSS Access Points in your area.

  You can phone the NDSS during business hours from anywhere in Australia on 1300 136 588 (local call cost). This number will direct your call to the nearest NDSS Agent.
  

You can obtain NDSS products in person, or you can order them by mail, by phone or fax and have supplies delivered to your home.

You can purchase NDSS products in person from an NDSS Agent or Access Point. Whenever you place an order you will be asked to give your NDSS registration number (on your NDSS card) and/or your Medicare card number (plus, if eligible, your DVA card number, Pension Card, Safety Net Card etc).

A staff member will be happy to assist you with your order.

All products and prices are listed on the NDSS Order Form. The main groups of products are:

• blood glucose testing strips (order form)
• pen-needles and syringes (order form)
• urine testing strips/tablets (order form)

Other products, such as insulin pump consumables, are available to Registrants who meet additional criteria.

Blood testing strips

A wide range of blood glucose testing strips is available through the NDSS.
Strips from the NDSS are cheaper than ones you get with a prescription from your doctor.

For example, a box of 100 strips will cost an NDSS Registrant $15.20 without a concession card, while a box of 100 strips bought using a prescription will cost around $35.00 without concession (as at January 2012). Concession card holders pay less.

Insulin syringes and pen-needles

All state and territory governments have agreed to fund the Registrant contribution for insulin syringes and pen-needles, as a result these are available free of charge to all insulin-requiring NDSS Registrants.

Urine testing strip

If you need to test your urine for ketones or glucose you can get these strips at a reduced price through NDSS.

The subsidy varies for each concession card, so it is important that you tell the staff member which card(s) you have.
