Diabetes Map

The Australian Diabetes Map is the only national map monitoring the prevalence of diabetes in Australia.

The Map uses groundbreaking information technology to present population data about Australians diagnosed with diabetes. It shows the numbers of people diagnosed with diabetes in all parts of Australia with information on age, gender and type of diabetes.

The Australian Diabetes Map is a dynamic reference tool for the whole community, our healthcare professionals, policy makers and researchers to help bring a better understanding of diabetes.

The data contained in the Australian Diabetes Map is derived from the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) Registrant database as at June 2013 and shows people diagnosed with diabetes who are registered on the Scheme. The NDSS is an initiative of the Australian Government administered by Diabetes Australia.

The information contained in the Australian Diabetes Map has recently been updated to include 2011 Census data reflecting prevalence rates at a national, federal electorate, state electorate, local government and postcode level.
