Online Education and Self Management Package
Project Overview
This proposal will involve a stock take of existing resources web-based, to determine what is best practice and to identify gaps in on-line diabetes education. The project intends to take on-line education and self-management resources to a new level by including interactive activities that promote engagement and active learning, specific to diabetes.
Module 1 – Consumer Education
Module 2 – Healthy Lifestyle Self-management
This module will include on-line goal setting, plus an exercise and healthy eating diary. Recent studies have shown people who keep food and activity diaries are more likely to lose and maintain weight loss.
Customer Satisfaction Survey of Type 2 Registrants – Users and Non-users
A national CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interview) survey was conducted with 3,000 type 2 Registrants, with 13 focus groups, both facilitated by TNS Social Research. The survey was designed to explore the behaviours, attitudes and perceptions of Registrants regarding the NDSS. The outcomes will inform improvements to NDSS service delivery to better meet the needs of those with diabetes.
Overall, Registrant satisfaction with the NDSS is high and the Scheme and its products met the needs of Registrants. Many of the active Registrants are loyal NDSS advocates: “it’s convenient, accessible and financially rewarding”
