CALD GDM Starter Pack
Project Overview
The CALD GDM Starter Pack Project will develop culturally appropriate and translated written GDM Starter Packs for five CALD communities with a high incidence of gestational diabetes. Identification of five high risk communities and development of resources for these communities requires specialist advice from experts in the CALD field. CALD experts who will be represented on the Working Parties for these projects (e.g. representatives from national, state, territory and regional multicultural and ethnic councils) will assist in the identification of these communities.
Translation of Factsheets
Project Overview
A 2009/10 NDSS National Project funded the review of the design and presentation of information fact sheets for placement on the Diabetes Australia website, and the national roll-out of the fact sheets. This project will develop up-to-date culturally appropriate and translated factsheets for culturally and linguistically diverse communities with a high prevalence of diabetes. The fact sheets developed in the 2009/10 project will form the basis of this SDG project. The translated fact sheets will be made available on the NDSS website to be used as an information resource for Registrants and CALD communities.
Bilingual Community Educator Program
Project Overview
The purpose of this project is to develop a national education program for bilingual community educators, and will target three to five CALD communities with a high incidence of diabetes. The program will assist bilingual community educators to provide diabetes information to these CALD communities, provide education sessions and information about access to health services and the NDSS.
The project will utilise existing translated materials where appropriate and will include development of translated resources, as needed, to support the program.
