Getting your driver’s license is a great milestone and often your first step towards becoming more independent. If you want to get a driver’s license, you’ll need to prove that your diabetes is under control. This is for your safety as well as that of other drivers. The driving regulatory authority in your area will want to make sure you aren’t going to have a hypo while you’re driving and end up injuring or killing yourself or anyone else. Some other complications of diabetes, for example, those affecting the eyes and feet, can also have an impact on your ability to drive.

Please refer to your relevant state or territory regulatory authority.
