CGM Initiative—Medtronic Guardian (3) products subsidised through the NDSS from 1 April 2019

From 1 April 2019, the NDSS will include fully subsidised access to the products on the Medtronic Guardian (3) platform, including the Guardian Connect (3) transmitter, the Guardian Link (3) transmitter and the Guardian Sensor (3). This will provide greater choice for people participating in the CGM Initiative.

The Continuous and Flash Glucose Monitoring Access forms are available here.

The Government also intends to include the FreeStyle Libre flash glucose monitoring system on the list of products subsidised under the scheme. Negotiations with the product sponsor are ongoing, and further information will be provided once negotiations are complete.

As previously announced by the Hon. Greg Hunt, MP, Minister for Health, funding of $100 million over four years has been allocated to expand free access to glucose-monitoring technology through the NDSS to help children, pregnant women, and more adults with type 1 diabetes manage their condition.

This initiative started on 1 March 2019.
