Published: 1 June, 2026 The FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor (NDSS Code 970) will no longer be available through the NDSS from 1 July 2026, following a decision by Abbott Diabetes Care to discontinue this product. NDSS registrants currently using the FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor will be automatically updated to the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor through the NDSS prior to this date. What this means for you If you currently access the FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor through the NDSS, you do not need to take any action. By 30 June 2026, your NDSS access will automatically update to the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor. You do not need to see a health professional for the purpose of this update. About the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor Compatibility: The FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor is compatible with existing FreeStyle Libre apps and reader devices. There are no changes to insertion technique or device use. Device lifespan: The FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor has a 15-day lifespan. NDSS Code: 995 Cost: For individuals who pay a co-pay for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensors, the co-pay is $17.90 per FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor. There is no co-pay for concession card holders or registrants under 21 years of age. Copayments for all CGM products are equivalent, and the individual differences reflect the different sensor lifespan and pack size for individual products. Annual access limits apply to all CGM products and are based on manufacturer usage guidelines. Considering an alternative CGM?
