Urgent Product Correction – Libre App

Published:

Abbott Diabetes Care, in consultation with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), is conducting an Urgent Product Correction of the Libre app.

Users of the Libre app are being contacted directly through the app and advised to immediately update to the latest app version. Updated software version numbers start with 1.4.1. This software update is required to maintain security of the Libre app.

What You Need To Know

Updating the app to the latest version addresses a potential security vulnerability affecting the Libre app. This problem could only be activated by someone in close proximity to a user’s device and cannot be activated remotely over the internet. As of 9-Oct-2026, Abbott is not aware of any unauthorised access to a patient’s app in relation to this vulnerability, and there have been no reports of adverse events.

In the unlikely event that this vulnerability were to be exploited, the app could display incorrect sensor glucose readings, and alarms may not function as intended or may provide incorrect alerts, which may lead people with diabetes to make inappropriate treatment decisions, such as taking too much or too little insulin or delaying necessary treatment.

This communication is for the Libre app only. For users of the FreeStyle LibreLink app, no action is required.

If you have additional questions or need to report problems experienced with the use of the Libre app, please call Libre Customer Care on 1800 801 478 (8am – 7pm AEDT, Mon – Fri [closed public holidays]), or visit the Libre Check website for additional information and FAQs.
