Published: 25 March, 2026 Important Safety Information If you use a TRUE METRIX® Blood Glucose Monitoring System and see an E-5 error code, and you have symptoms of high blood glucose, such as tiredness, frequent urination, thirst, or blurry vision, seek medical care straight away. What is the problem? The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has agreed to a Critical Product Correction (Class I) for TRUE METRIX® Blood Glucose Monitoring Systems. The TRUE METRIX® Air and TRUE METRIX® Go systems display an E-5 error code in two situations: Blood glucose is very high (more than 33.3 mmol/L) There is a test strip error The current device instructions do not clearly advise users to seek urgent medical care when they see the E-5 error and have symptoms of high blood glucose. This may delay treatment, with serious health impacts in some cases. Since 2014, 114 serious injuries and one death have been reported in relation to the E-5 error code worldwide. Review the updated error code instructions on the Trividia Health Australia website. If you see an E-5 error code: And you have symptoms of high blood glucose (tiredness, frequent urination, thirst, or blurry vision): seek medical care straight away. and you have no symptoms, recheck using a new strip. If the error continues, contact the manufacturer, Trividia Health, Inc., for assistance on 1800 001 351, Monday-Friday, 12 AM-12 PM AEST. Trividia Health has sent letters to customers since March 10, 2026. If you have not received a letter or believe you have an affected product, please contact them. Consider changing to an NDSS-subsidised blood glucose system. Contact your diabetes health professional or the NDSS for more information. Why is the NDSS sharing this notice? TRUE METRIX® devices and blood glucose check strips are not subsidised by the NDSS and were discontinued in Australia on 31 January 2025. However, some people may still use them as strips supplied before the product was discontinued may not expire until April 2026. Some meters have expiry dates up to December 2026. The NDSS is sharing this information because some people with diabetes may still be using devices, and we want to ensure all Australians with diabetes have access to this important safety information.
