Important Update: Phased discontinuation of Medtronic Guardian 3 CGM products

This is an official notice regarding the discontinuation of several older Medtronic CGM transmitters and a sensor. The affected products, their discontinuation timelines, and the support available to those affected are outlined below.

Products Affected:

  • Guardian Connect 3 Transmitter (Product Code: MMT-7820LME, NDSS Code: 940) – Discontinued from 1 September 2024
  • Guardian Link 3 Transmitter (Product Code: MMT-7810W1, NDSS Code: 935) – Discontinued from 1 September 2024
  • Guardian Bluetooth Link 3 (Product Code: MMT-7911W5, NDSS Code: 965) – Discontinuation effective January 2025
  • Guardian 3 Sensors (Product Code: MMT-7020C5, NDSS Code: 945) – Discontinuation effective April 2025

Impact on Current Users

Individuals currently using these products will need to transition to an alternative CGM device with the support of their diabetes health professional. To ensure uninterrupted diabetes management, users are advised to take the following steps:

  • Consult with your Diabetes Health Professional: Users of the affected products should consult their diabetes health professional to discuss suitable alternatives. Diabetes health professionals can recommend the most appropriate insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system based on individual needs.
  • Explore Upgrade Options: Depending on the user’s current equipment and warranty status, there may be opportunities to upgrade to more advanced systems. Diabetes health professionals can provide guidance on available options.
